What is Men's Ministry?

Men face things every day that are unique to men. There are differences between married and single, younger and older, but for the most part we all share the same temptations and trials, joys and triumphs. We are concerned about things that matter most to men; jobs, family, sex, relationships, ministry and so much more. But, one of the main things we have in common is that very few men ask for spiritual or emotional help. And too few men would know how to help if called on. In Joshua chapter one God tells all the men to cross over and help their brothers fight for the things God had promised. And in chapter four we read “About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the LORD unto battle” In a nutshell, Men’s Ministry is men helping men, then preparing them to help others.

“Down in their hearts, wise men know this truth: the only way to help your self is to help others.” – Elbert Hubbard

The following is an excerpt from my book, enjoy.

Prepared for War

I rather enjoy telling the story of the Middle School Championship football game in 2008. My son Seth and his team mates won that year, (that’s my favorite part). The opposing team was down at the half 13-6, the head coach told his boys something that I was surprised to hear. I overheard him tell his team, “They have what we have allowed them to have, because we are not executing, we are not fighting, and we don’t want it bad enough!”
Like it or not, there is a war going on. The casualties are those dying and going to Hell every single day; lost and alone without Christ. Oh, we have our excuses, “it’s that preacher” or “it’s those hypocrites down at that other church.” But the truth is “They (the enemies of God) have what we have allowed them to have, because we are not executing, we are not fighting, and we don’t want it bad enough.” What about prayer in school, displaying of the Ten Commandments, Gay Rights, abortion on demand? It’s simple, “They have what we have allowed them to have, because we are not executing, we are not fighting, and we don’t want it bad enough.” God have mercy on us. We have a lot to answer for.
